Zakharova: Israel has “no right” to impose REGIME CHANGE in Iran

Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova asserts that Israel has “no right” to impose regime change in Iran, accusing Tel Aviv of violating international law without justification.
Zakharova challenges Israel to provide evidence for its claims that Iran is close to developing nuclear weapons, questioning the lack of disclosed proof.

Israel has “no right” to impose a so-called “regime change” in the Islamic Republic of Iran, according to Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokeswoman Maria Zakharova.

In an interview with Russia Today journalist Rick Sanchez, Zakharova accused Tel Aviv of violating international law by attempting to force “regime change” in Tehran. Zakharova questioned the legal and moral justification for Israel’s attacks against Tehran: “What has Iran done wrong? What is it being bombed for?”

Zakharova also dismissed Israel’s claims of an imminent nuclear threat, challenging the Jewish nation to produce evidence. “We’ve heard multiple statements from Israel that they have proof that Iran is one step away from creating weapons of mass destruction. Why can’t they just show the documents? Israel says they don’t like the regime in Iran, the political regime. [But] whether you like a regime or you don’t, if it doesn’t attack you … you have no right to change that regime,” she said.

Zakharova also accused Western nations of abandoning their professed principles. “The West seems to have forgotten in an instant about human rights, about children … in the midst of hell,” she lamented.

Israel vs. Iran: A deadly exchange that could shake up the Middle East

Zakharova’s sharp criticism was backed up by staggering numbers from Iranian authorities, who reported at least 224 casualties – including 74 women and children. Meanwhile, Israel claimed retaliatory strikes from Tehran killed 24 civilians and injured almost 600.

The conflict erupted on June 13, after Israel claimed Iran was nearing nuclear weapons capability. It subsequently escalated into a deadly exchange of missile barrages, raising fears of a broader regional war.

While Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu openly discusses toppling Iran’s leadership, U.S. officials remain hesitant, exposing a rift in Western support for Israel’s aggressive campaign. Despite his public embrace of regime change as a war objective, Israeli officials privately acknowledge it was not an approved goal by the security cabinet.

Still, Netanyahu has made his intentions clear, telling Fox News the conflict could bring “many changes in Iran.” He even suggested that the assassination of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei might “end the war.” Netanyahu’s rhetoric escalated after an Israeli strike on Iran’s state TV studios, which he framed as an effort to disrupt regime propaganda. The White House, however, remains cautious. “They might be more comfortable with regime change than we are,” noted one senior official in Washington.

For now, Iran’s government shows no signs of crumbling. Analysts like Raz Zimmt of Israel’s INSS think tank observe that while public anger exists, national solidarity has strengthened amid the bombardment. Whether Israel’s campaign will force Tehran’s capitulation or merely deepen the crisis remains uncertain.
